After visiting the North Rim we debated on hitting the South Rim as well to get the most out of our pass. We enjoyed the North Rim just not enough to want to drive 5 hours to see the other rim. What we laughed at was how traveling at 65 miles an hour it took us over 5 hours to get to the South Rim, when in reality as the bird flys it is only 12 miles apart. Anyhow we decided to make the trip and find out the difference in the two Rims. And wow was there a difference, a whole lot more scenery and landscape to see. And even with the Flagstaff fire smoke making things hazy it was definitely worth the extra few hours on the road. They had a cool tower to view from and browse there overly priced gift shop and allot of different points to view. We ran out of daylight and energy before we visited them all!
Leta had a blast exploring and would "scout" for squirrels and lizards and point out the trees and at one spot was out exploring (under close supervision of her overly protective mother) when she spotted a large rock called out to me to make sure I was watching then signed mountain scrambled on top and signed mountain again looking pretty smug about her "major" accomplishment. It was so funny. (See picture above)
It was also the only time on the vacation we saw big wild game, to bad it was getting dark and couldn't see the elk clearly :(
